Our Story

Mamie’s Cafe & Bakery began with one passionate woman, a kitchen, and homemade recipes.

Founded by Karen Leidy Wyland in Martinsburg, Pennsylvania, Mamie’s Cafe & Bakery was built on a simple belief: people deserve to know what real homemade food tastes like. Named after Mamie Teeter, Karen’s great-grandmother who operated a local hotel and restaurant for decades, Mamie’s continues a family tradition of baking, hospitality, and comfort food made from scratch.

What began with Karen in a home kitchen has become a true family business. Valerie Wyland Prough, Karen’s daughter and partner in Mamie’s Cafe & Bakery, is an essential part of the company’s operations and growth, helping lead the business alongside her mother. Now, with niece Heather also stepping into the business, Mamie’s continues to grow through family, tradition, and hard work.

What started with apple pie kits — with Karen hand-rolling every crust herself and selling them to local grocery stores — grew into one of the area’s favorite cafés, known for homemade pies, famous doughnuts, Pennsylvania Dutch baked goods, hearty breakfasts, and comfort-food lunches made with real ingredients.

Today, Mamie’s is growing through franchising and its “Make It at Home” product line, featuring cream pie mixes, doughnut mix, pancake mix, and Val’s Sweet n’ Spicy Chili Mix — with more exciting products still to come. Keep watching our store as new items continue to be added.

At its heart, Mamie’s is about tradition, quality, and reminding people what real homemade food is supposed to taste like.

“Homemade… Memories.”
